The Greek incumbent OTE ended the second quarter with 647,897 subscribers to its TV services.

This, according to the company in its latest results, was 1% (6,319) more than in the same period last year “despite competitive challenges and the persistence of piracy”.

Meanwhile, OTE’s fibre (FTTx) subscriber total stood at 1,514,904 as of the end of Q2, up 7% on a year earlier, while FTTx penetration on the total broadband base further expanded to 64.7%. The share of subscribers using broadband speeds of 100?bps or higher has now reached 46% of all FTTx connections.

OTE says it remains focused on its FTTH investment plan—having installed more than 80% of the country’s total FTTH lines, it passed nearly 1.1 million homes at the end of June and plans to reach approximately 1.4 million homes by year end. OTE posted another quarter of strong additions, at 28,000, with the total number of FTTH subscribers reaching 194,000. Total utilisation on homes passed by OTE’s infrastructure increased, reaching 19%, compared to 14% a year earlier, reflecting enhanced network availability and effective sales initiatives.

OTE Group had revenues of €854.1 million in Q2, or 1.1% more than in the same quarter last year. Its adjusted EBITDA (AL) and net profit were €326.8 million (-1.8%) and €111.9 million (+4.8%) respectively.
